Smoothies, Shakes, and Energy Bars!
I have been a vegetarian for 13+ years now and am very conscious of my diet. It is important to me that I do everything I can to live a healthy lifestyle. This past summer I had a good sized organic garden that supplied more than enough fresh, organic vegetables for myself and my family.
One of my favorite things to do with fresh fruit and some vegetables, especially carrots, is to make fresh smoothies. These can be made with your favorite individual fruits and vegetables or combined for some interesting flavors. Smoothies are a great alternative to the soft drinks and sugar heavy juices that are peddled in most grocery stores. Some of the best protein shakes include oranges, grapes, and strawberries. Another great way to enhance the health benefits of your smoothie or shake is to make a whey protein shake. Whey protein can give the additional protein necessary increase your metabolism and boost your energy level.
