Cool Weather Is Coming

In Knoxville, Tennessee today it might not seem like cool (and even cold) weather is coming, but it is. We are barely a week from the Thanksgiving holiday and it is 76°(F). I have lived in this part of the country for long enough, so I am not being fooled by this ‘Indian Summer.’ I know that I will wake one morning to frozen grass and frost on the car windshield. The arrival of the cold however cannot detour me Snowingfrom things I enjoy and the things I must do.

Despite the cold temperatures, as someone who really enjoys being outdoors, I will continue to hike and explore the beautiful Smoky Mountains that draw so many visitors to east Tennessee. I know that either my patagoina® Boaris Mid with its waterproof construction will keep my feet warm and dry during the cooler temps or that my North Face Men’s Chilkats will do the same as the temps really begin to fall. Either way, having the right equipment is very important for exploring the great outdoors anytime of the year but especially during the winter months.

From chopping firewood to putting out birdseed, there is also work that needs to get done despite cold weather. Though most people heat there homes with gas or electric heat, many people like to reduce energy bills by supplementing with a cozy fire. Fires also add a certain ambiance that somehow makes the bone chilling temps outside a bit more manageable. Doing any of the things that need to get done outside during the cold months also necessitates the right accessories to keep you warm and comfortable. Before you start any task in freezing temperatures, make sure you have the proper equipment (i.e. coat, gloves, hate, etc.) to keep you warm and safe. Believe me you will work smarter and more efficiently if you are properly prepared.
